“my job as an artist is to find beauty where there’s ugliness.” – sufjan stevens
Sunday Night – Raymond Carver November 5, 2009
Sunday Night
Make use of the things around you.
This light rain
Outside the window, for one.
This cigarette between my fingers,
These feet on the couch.
The faint sound of rock-and-roll,
The red Ferrari in my head.
The woman bumping
Drunkenly around in the kitchen . . .
Put it all in,
Make use.

30 Days of Gratitude – Day 7 – The Open Road December 11, 2008
“Somewhere along the line I knew there’d be girls, visions, everything; somewhere along the line the pearl would be handed to me.”
- Jack Kerouac, On the Road, Part 1, Ch. 1
I am thankful for the open road and my flintstones-mobile that walks, limps and sometimes runs up and down the whole blessed thing. Road after road after road, guiding me through one adventure on over to the next one. Always safely, in a sacred way.
